Rev. Spurgeon has a wealth of pastoral experience, having served as Assistant and Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Babylon, NY, Pastor of Broughton Presbyterian Church, Bloomfield, New Jersey, and Bethany Presbyterian Church, Wichita, Kansas, as founding pastor of Evangel Presbyterian Church (PCA) of Wichita, Kansas, and as Pastor of Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church (PCA) of Woodbridge, Virginia. Rev. Spurgeon believes that the heart of ministry is the preaching and teaching of the Word of God as part of the worship of God’s people, showing how the Scriptures apply to the practical lives of people as food for their spiritual lives, depending on God the Holy Spirit to take it home to their hearts. Rev. Spurgeon and his wife Linda have three grown children and five grandchildren. He enjoys studying church history, playing golf, bicycling, and fixing up old cars.
